The man suspected in the triple murders of actress Jennifer Hudson’s family will remain in prison as police continue to investigate the grisly slayings it was ruled today (November 10).

The Illinois Prisoner Review Board ruled that William Balfour, 27, must remain in police custody, because of evidence that he violated his parole.

Balfour was on probation for a 1999 conviction for attempted murder during a botched car jacking.

Today’s ruling was based on statements Balfour’s girlfriend gave to police, indicating that she had seen him with a gun matching the one that was used to murder Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

Board members also ruled that Balfour had violated the terms of his probation by being in places where drugs are sold, stemming from a June 19 arrest, in which he allegedly was found in possession of crack cocaine.

Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer Hudson’s sister Julia, has not been charged in the case.

He was arrested on a parole violation immediately after the October 24 murders of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, Jason Hudson, 29, and Julia’s son Julian King.

King, who was kidnapped from the Hudson home, was discovered three days, shot twice in the head.

Incredibly, Balfour who has been held at Stateville Correctional Center since October 26, did not have a lawyer representing him in the high profile case.

Investigators say Balfour acknowledged being in the Hudson family home on the morning of the slayings, but is not cooperating with the investigation.

During today’s hearing, Balfour also protested the evidence that prosecutors presented during the hearing.

He will now remain in police custody until he is granted a full hearing, which is set for December 3.

Beyonce…..The Next Wonder Woman?

The If I Were A Boy singer says she wants to follow up her performances in Dreamgirls, Austin Powers and The Pink Panther with a super hero movie.

“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman?” Beyonce told the Los Angeles Times.

“And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?”

Beyonce will soon be seen playing singer Etta James in the film Cadillac Records, and she is also starring in the thriller Obsessed.

“After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself: ‘Okay, I need to be a superhero’,” Beyonce said.

“Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional.”

News that Beyonce wants to play a super hero comes after James Bond star Daniel Craig said the next person to play the secret agent could be black.

Barack Obama….Enough Said!

November 5th, 2008 by jackie-morales-kzon

Barack Obama has been elected president of the United States, the first African-American elected to the country’s highest office. The historic election brings with it the likelihood of more government involvement in business and the reeling economy.

The Illinois senator was projected to win key battleground states such as Ohio and Pennsylvania. He also was projected by several news organizations to be the winner in Florida, where the Democrat Party had faced bitter disappointment in the recent past elections.

His rival, Republican Sen. John McCain, conceded defeat in a speech Tuesday night a little after 11 p.m. EST. He congratulated Sen. Obama on his victory and urged his supporters to get behind the newly elected president.

Obama gave his acceptance speech before a massive throng of people in Chicago about an hour later. “There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair,” he said.

The presidential race was hotly contested, but in the end, the results weren’t nearly as close as they were in 2000 and 2004. As of 12:45 a.m. EST Wednesday, Obama had a projected 338 electoral votes to McCain’s 156.

An Obama presidency has many implications for business. It may signal good times for the sustainability industry — solar power, electric cars and the like — but a new burden on utilities and other industries if the new president makes good on campaign promises to put caps on emissions. The health care industry and employer-based health insurance also are likely to see more government involvement — both financial support and regulatory controls — under an Obama presidency.

Obama’s victory is coupled with projected gains for Democrats in the U.S. House and Senate.

Def Jam said the executive who succeeded Jay-Z as the head of hip-hop music label has died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

Associated press reported that Shakir Stewart, 34, was found on Saturday afternoon in his bathroom at his Atlanta home.

Reports said Stewart’s fiancée, Michelle Rivers, and his family released a statement.

“Over the past several weeks, Shakir’s behaviour was inconsistent with the man we all know and love.”

“As much as we all tried to help him, Shakir was in deep pain and largely suffering in silence,” the statement said.

Stewart signed artists such as Rick Ross and Young Jeezy to the label before filling Jay-Z’s post.

He previously worked with the Hitco publishing company, where he signed R&B star Beyonce, and Arista Records, where he signed R&B star Ciara.

Jam Master J….Today Marks The Six Year Anniversary Of His Death.

Jam Master Jay Murder Investigation: Six Years Later, What’s The Status?

To his family, friends and fans, it just doesn’t make any sense.

 281×211.jpg

No closure after more than half a decade?

The murder of hip-hop icon Jam Master Jay which took place on October 30, 2002 — is still unsolved, and as another year passes without any significant breakthroughs in the case — no new evidence, fresh leads or confessions — hope of finding the killers fades a little more. You would think that the brutal murder of one of the most beloved figures in hip-hop in a high-profile crime that shocked the nation would have produced at least a couple of suspects by now.

But, sadly, like the murders of two other rap icons — the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur — years after the crime, all we’re left with is rumors, speculation and a maddening lack of closure for friends, fans and family.

At the time of his death at age 37, Jam Master Jay (born Jason Mizell) had already achieved worldwide fame as the turntablist and founding member of Run-DMC, arguably the most influential hip-hop group of all time. Jay elevated the cut-and-scratch to an art form and helped define DJing as we know it.

With so much time since his murder, some observers fear the case may be going cold. “I see very little chance of this ever being solved,” said Ethan Brown, author of “Queens Reigns Supreme: Fat Cat, 50 Cent and the Rise of the Hip-Hop Hustler” “Even if there is a break in the case and they make an arrest and it goes to trial, you could easily destroy the credibility of the witnesses.”
